In the beginning the 1in12 club's activities mainly occured
in
Bradford pubs and clubs with the use of a borrowed or hired vocal PA.
There are some fine pictures of youthful punkers glamming it up from
those days, which maybe someone will post up on the internet somewhere
one of these days. But since these pages are concerned with the
struggle to maintain a sound system in the collective ownership of a
continuously shifting pool of people, we begin with an example of what
would happen when the club organised a big outdoor event:
This was a free gig, I believe - I'm not sure if some local PA concern
provided all their gear at cost, at a loss, or charged the full whack.
But they certainly didn't skimp on the colourful boxes....
If anyone reading this knows more about this I'd be interested to know
more details. My suspicion is that if the people involved are still in
the PA business and had the chance to do it again today they'd
probably stack their boxes up a little differently....
More later. The bar collective have suddenly summoned me to drive off
in search of real ale...
